Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Lexaro ("we", "us", "our") handles information when you use the Lexaro mobile application (the "App"). Lexaro doesn't require a traditional account — there's no email, password, or sign-up — but a couple of optional features described below do involve a lightweight anonymous identifier and a display name you choose.

2. Information We Collect

Lexaro stores your core gameplay progress — completed levels and statistics — locally on your device. This never leaves your device and isn't tied to any identifier.

The moment you open the App, it automatically creates an anonymous identifier for your installation (via Firebase Authentication's "anonymous sign-in"). This happens for every install, whether or not you use the Daily Leaderboard or Groups features described in Section 3 — it's a random identifier with no email address, password, or other personally identifying information attached, and it exists to support those optional features.

The App also uses Firebase (provided by Google) for analytics and crash reporting, which may collect device and usage information automatically, including:

The App shows advertisements between campaign levels, served by Google AdMob. AdMob and its advertising partners may collect an advertising identifier (such as Apple's IDFA or Android's Advertising ID) and other device information to serve ads, measure their performance, and — where you've given permission — personalize them. On iOS, the App will ask for your permission before this identifier can be used for tracking, via Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt; you can decline this and still use the App and see ads. If you'd rather not see ads at all, the App offers a one-time "Remove Ads" purchase in the Items shop.

If the App offers in-app purchases, purchase transactions are handled entirely by Apple's App Store or Google Play — Lexaro does not receive or store your payment details.

3. Daily Leaderboard and Groups (Optional Features)

The App includes two optional, opt-in social features: a global Daily Challenge leaderboard, and private Groups you can create or join to compare progress with friends and family. Neither is required to play the game.

Daily Leaderboard — off by default. You can turn it on via a one-time prompt or anytime in Settings. Once on, completing that day's Daily Challenge submits your chosen display name, score, move count, star rating, and completion time to our database, ranked against everyone else who played that day. Anyone who opens the leaderboard can view it, regardless of whether they've opted in themselves. Turning the leaderboard off in Settings stops future submissions, but does not remove entries you've already submitted — contact us using the details below if you'd like a past entry removed.

Groups — if you create or join a group using a shareable 6-character code, other members of that group can see your display name, campaign score, highest level reached, and levels completed. Your Daily Challenge streak and history are not shared with the group. Creating or joining a group requires the same chosen display name used for the Daily Leaderboard, and syncs your campaign stats to our database for as long as you remain a member; leaving a group removes your entry.

Display names — any display name you choose is checked against a basic word filter before being accepted, but this is a lightweight check, not full moderation. Please don't include personal information in your display name, since it's visible to other players.

4. How We Use Information

We use this information to operate and improve the App, understand how it's used, diagnose and fix crashes, process in-app purchases through the app stores, and — only if you opt in — operate the Daily Leaderboard and Groups features, including showing your chosen display name and related stats to other players.

6. Data Sharing

We don't sell your information. Data collected via Firebase is shared with Google as our analytics/crash-reporting and cloud infrastructure provider, under Google's own data processing terms. Advertising identifiers and related device information are shared with Google AdMob and its advertising partners to serve and measure ads, as described above. We don't share information with any other third party except where required by law.

Separately, if you opt into the Daily Leaderboard or join a Group, your chosen display name and related stats (score, moves, stars, completion time, or campaign progress) become visible to other players of the App who view that leaderboard or group — this is sharing with other users of the App, not a third party.

7. Data Retention

Analytics and crash data collected via Firebase is retained according to Firebase's default retention settings. Gameplay progress stored locally on your device remains until you delete the App or clear its data. Daily Leaderboard entries remain visible after you opt out, since opting out only stops future submissions (see Section 3). Leaving a Group removes your entry from that group immediately. 8. Children's Privacy

Lexaro is a general-audience word game and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Your Rights

If you're in the UK or EEA, UK/EU data protection law gives you the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the personal data we hold about your device, and to object to or withdraw consent for its processing. Most requests will relate to device-linked analytics data, or — if you've opted into the Daily Leaderboard or a Group — to the display name and stats attached to your anonymous identifier. Contact us and we'll assist as best we can. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) or your local data protection authority.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
